Always check the label before you buy. Don’t buy a very irritating detergent if you know your family has sensitive skin. Don’t remove those labels either: you want to know what’s in it if anything does go wrong.
On the same note, don’t take it out of its original package. It’s there for a reason, leave it like that. Best to keep that pack out of reach on a high shelf in a cool, dry and dark place. In a cupboard is good and in a locked cupboard even better.
Make sure there’s good ventilation, too, and never store matches, lighters or candles next to your detergents and household chemicals.
It’s also a good idea to keep gloves nearby and use them when handling household chemicals.
Oh, boxes: put them against a wall if possible. If your pet cat can walk around it, the box will get knocked over.
Don’t buy hundreds of detergents, either, especially when just one will do the trick on all your clothes. Daz liquid or powder cleans and protects both your whites and your colours, so you don’t have to store 101 different detergents.
It’s also a good idea to clean your storage area regularly, wash your cleaning rags and just keep everything neat and tidy. That way everything will be just where you need it when you need it. As simple as that.
